About me

I am interested in hand tools and ancient techniques. I create utensils and bowls that are beautiful and practical, but above all pleasant to hold... to the point of not wanting to let them go!

I’ve always been fascinated by the hand. From my studies in physics and fine arts to my over 20 years of practice in Tai Chi and Qi Gong.

Recently, I’ve focused on traditional, simple, and ingenious hand tools, which led me to start carving wood.

I cherish this noble material, which I carefully gather from my forest and my neighbors'. I split the wood with an axe I made myself or using a traditional froe. I then rough-shape it on my shaving horse and carve it with a knife to create spoons, bowls, and various utilitarian art objects.

I mostly work with green wood, which requires a long and meticulous drying process. This is followed by repeated sanding and wetting sessions, resulting in an incredibly soft and smooth finish. Finally, I apply three coats of food-grade oil for a durable and resistant finish. All of my pieces must not only be beautiful and useful in daily life, but above all, they must be a pleasure to handle and use, to the point where you won’t want to put them down!
